We had the chance to chat with OPA!’s Co-founder, Teddy Doodnauth, about their journey, the pain points they’re solving for restaurants, and how our partnership is fueling growth. Dive into the conversation below.
Q: Let’s start at the beginning - what’s Opa’s origin story? What inspired you to launch it, and what makes your approach stand out for restaurants trying to thrive in today’s digital world?
TD: OPA! actually started as a gifting platform (OPA! 1.0). We wanted people to send meals and treats from their favorite restaurants as gifts. It was fun, but as we worked with more partners, we realized the bigger challenge wasn’t gifting. The real issue was that restaurants were losing control of their digital ordering to third-party apps charging massive fees. On top of that, customers weren’t getting their restaurant rewards when ordering through those marketplaces, which caused frustration and led to people abandoning their carts. That’s when we pivoted. Today, OPA! is the first third-party marketplace designed to put restaurants first, giving them back control of their data, their customers, and their loyalty programs, while guests still get the convenience and rewards they love.

Q: Third-party integrations, order aggregation, menu management - they’re headaches for a lot of restaurants. How has teaming up with Stream helped you cut through those challenges for your clients?
TD: Those headaches are real. Integrations and menu management can feel like a never-ending mess. By teaming with Stream, we’ve been able to take that complexity and make it invisible. Menus sync, orders route correctly, and everything just works. For restaurants, it’s like we lifted a huge weight off their shoulders. That speed keeps our momentum strong and gives merchants confidence that OPA! is a partner that moves at their pace, not one that slows them down.

Q: Real-time data and one place to manage menus and orders is powerful. What kind of difference has that made for the restaurants you work with?
TD: It’s night and day. Before, restaurants were flying blind or juggling multiple dashboards. Now, with real-time data and a single point of control, they can adjust instantly whether it’s removing a menu item, launching a new promo, or tracking performance. It saves time, cuts mistakes, and turns digital ordering from a headache into a real growth tool. Just as important, customers are finally able to earn and redeem their rewards when they order. That solves one of the biggest frustrations of legacy marketplaces, where rewards didn’t count and high fees caused people to abandon their carts. With OPA!, restaurants keep their guests engaged, loyal, and happy to come back.
Q: And finally, what’s next for Opa? Any exciting projects or growth plans you can share that build on what we’ve accomplished together?
TD: We’re just getting started. Next up, we’re rolling out delivery across the OPA! marketplace, expanding loyalty integrations with some of the biggest restaurant brands, and scaling nationwide. And in a fun full-circle moment, we’re even revisiting some of our OPA! 1.0 gifting roots, bringing gifting and rewards back into the platform in a way that works at scale. Our vision is simple: to be the marketplace where guests always get rewarded, restaurants always keep control and fees are cut! Together with Stream, we’re building the future of restaurant ordering, one where everybody wins.
